New Year, New Stories, New Cities

I truly feel I have the worst luck when it comes to travel.  Every other time I fly either my baggage is lost, my flight has been delayed by at least two or more hours, or I miss my connection and have to spend the night in another hotel.
Portland, OR
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Traveling.  I get to fly to the other side of the country (completely paid for) a couple times a month (for work) but still, to be in a place where I may or may not have gone in my life is pretty amazing.  I'm truly blessed to visit my family and friends when I can.

The perks of being in Portland, OR for work is that when I leave the office (at a decent time) I get to eat at fabulous restaurants and enjoy leisure time at comedy clubs and Portland Trailblazers games.  When I spend weekends on the West Coast (and when I don't have to be at the office) I find myself traveling to California, Nevada, and most recently Washington.

Seattle, WA is a wonderful city.  So many things to do and see.  The weekend I was there I stayed with some lovely ladies Heidi met in college.  Friday night we enjoyed eating at The Crab Pot and walking along the pier.  On Saturday, we made our way to the Space Needle and ate at the slowly spinning Sky City restaurant.  The 360 degree view of Seattle was incredible (pictures to come).

This past month has been a whirl wind!  Over Thanksgiving I took some personal days to myself so I could be home with family and friends from back home.  I first spent a short time in Southern WI with my dad, sister, and niece celebrating Thanksgiving and Hanukkah.   Drove North to see my mom and to celebrate with her as well.  Danielle asked me to work Black Friday with her so we worked 12 hours each from midnight to noon (at 3 AM, I was ready to crash - haha).  Later that evening (after a nice long nap) I met up with a bunch of friends at a local bar and we were picked up from the Right Way Shuttle to take us from bar to bar.  It was so much fun to have the shuttle for the night and to spend time with my home town friends, including past coworkers!

I was home (in Pierre) December 6-8 and the rest of my time was spent in Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin (although I did spend NYE in SD).  While I was home in Pierre I was able to attend an ugly sweater party (they never get old).  We had a great time playing the Logo game and Cards Against Humanity (this game will never get old).

This year I was able to spend Christmas with family in Wisconsin.  Of course we had our annual family bowling and white elephant gift exchange.  It was great to spend time with entire family as a whole, even my dad spent the holiday up North with the Harmons!  The one person I missed the most that was unable to make it was my Aunt Joy BUT she made up for it when she invited me to go with her, Leo (her awesome boyfriend), and Kira to PARIS, FRANCE for Kira's high school graduation present!!!!  Of course I said YES (more details to come)!!!

2013 in Review: The year will be unforgettable.
I became an Aunt to my beautiful niece, Isla Marie.  I traveled out of the country for the first time to the Caribbean.  I started traveling for work and wouldn't trade it to do anything else (I'm very content with where my job is taking me - no complaints here!).  And like everyone else, I'm excited to see what 2014 will bring.

HAPPY NEW YEAR from me and my lady friends!
Compliments of Kristin K.
